Resident Life in the Boarding School
The dorm rooms in the boarding school accommodate two to three students per bedroom. When possible, international students are roomed with English-speaking students to facilitate their learning of the English language. In the common areas of the boarding school, girls are encouraged to speak English.
School day schedule:
• Breakfast provided in the dining hall
• School day begins at 7:55am and dismisses at 3:00
• After school free time for extra-curricular activities, etc.
• Dinner in the dining hall
• Study time – Structured 2 hour study time
• Evening prayer and discussion
• Evening free time
• Bed time & lights out
Weekend activities include ice-skating, shopping, movies, Sacred Heart dances, theatre performances, art museums, visiting national forests and zoos, university athletic events and festivals that celebrate the Louisiana culture. The boarding school occasionally takes trips out of town for the weekend to nearby towns/cities. The cost of these activities is covered by the boarding school.
Our monthly service program allows the girls to go out into the community to serve those in need. Projects include: Bingo with a local assisted living facility, Holiday Basket distribution, Make-a-Difference-Day, Second Harvest Food Bank, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, and many more!
