Berchmans Academy is committed to enrolling an inclusive student body comprised of students from various economic, ethnic, racial and social backgrounds. As part of that commitment, the school has established a program of tuition assistance for families who would otherwise be unable to consider Berchmans Academy as an option for their children. The school’s philosophy regarding tuition assistance is that it be need-based. There is no preset income figure that qualifies a family for assistance. The school also has several merit-based scholarships.
While it is the school’s firm belief that the primary responsibility for financing the student’s education belongs to his family, Berchmans Academy appreciates that not every family can bear the full cost. The purpose of the tuition assistance program is to make Berchmans Academy accessible to these families.
~“Let us respect childhood; let us honor the soul of that small creature of God who can already make choices of the best if we take the time to awaken his reason and make him use his judgment.”

Tuition Assistance Program
Sacred Heart has an established tuition assistance program for families who would otherwise be unable to consider Sacred Heart as an option. Awards are need-based and vary in range depending upon each family’s financial resources. Sacred Heart’s Tuition Assistance awards are allocated to Kindergarten through 12th grade students according to financial need while keeping a balance across grades. Last year, Sacred Heart awarded over $600,000 in assistance to 28% of students. The school’s Director of Admissions is available to counsel privately with interested families regarding tuition assistance. A family’s interest in tuition assistance and any award granted is considered strictly confidential
Tuition Assistance FAQ:
Who can apply for Tuition Assistance?
Families receiving Tuition Assistance at Sacred Heart represent a wide range of financial backgrounds. Although the primary responsibility of funding a student’s education rests with the family, any family unable to afford the full cost of tuition may apply for Tuition Assistance.
How does the School determine financial need?
Financial need is evaluated by the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) system and defined as the difference between the cost to attend Sacred Heart and a family’s ability to pay. It provides the School with a general assessment of a family’s ability to pay for education. Major factors in determining financial need include, but are not limited to, income, assets (including home equity, college funds, investment accounts, and trust funds), family size, and the number of children attending tuition-charging institutions. There is no preset income figure that qualifies a family for assistance.
When do I apply for Tuition Assistance?
The Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) system opens in early October. Families should apply concurrently for admission and Tuition Assistance so that financial awards are given at the time of admission offers.
Is Tuition Assistance automatically renewed each year?
Sacred Heart requires families receiving Tuition Assistance to reapply each year. As long as the student remains enrolled at Sacred Heart, Tuition Assistance is renewed every year according to demonstrated need. A change in income, family status, and the number of children attending private institutions may result in increases or decreases in an award providing funds are available. Every application is reviewed annually.
What if I still have questions about Tuition Assistance?
Sacred Heart’s Admissions Director is available to counsel privately with interested families regarding tuition assistance. A family’s interest in tuition assistance and any award granted is considered strictly confidential.
